Frequently asked questions

Common questions about the generator and about QR codes.

Is Open QR Code free?

Yes. Unlimited use, no signup, no login, and no watermark.

Do my codes expire?

No. The codes are static: they encode your content directly, so they keep working forever. There is no redirect or short link that could break.

Are my codes uploaded or stored?

No. Everything is generated in your browser. What you type is never sent to a server, stored, or tracked.

What is the difference between a QR code and a barcode?

A barcode (like Code 128) stores a short value in a single row of lines, common on labels and tickets. A QR code is two-dimensional and holds much more, like full links or contact cards, and scans from any angle.

Can I use the codes commercially?

Yes. The codes you generate are yours to use on products, packaging, posters, and marketing.

Why will not my code scan?

Usually contrast or size. Keep dark modules on a light background, leave a quiet margin around the code, and make it large enough for the scanning distance.

What can I put in a QR code?

Links, plain text, Wi-Fi credentials, contact details, and more. For Wi-Fi or contacts, pick the matching type so phones recognize it.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The page is responsive and works on phones, tablets, and computers.
